I have to tell you that I am thoroughly impressed with every aspect of California. It has been great! However, last night I experienced my first taste of true L.A. life. . .
I almost got into a fight.
That might sound believable, but the next part sounds outrageous.
I almost got into a fight with Batman.
Last night we went to go experience true "Hollywood". We drove to an overlook point and saw the whole city from way up high. It was beautiful. After that we decided to go to see the walk of fame near Mann's Chinese theater.
As we walked past the theater we saw a bunch of people dressed as characters from movies. There was king Kong, Wolverine, Cat woman, and even Batman. After we looked around at all of the famous footprints Annie, the other girl in the internship, decided she wanted to get her picture taken with Batman. Batman was more than happy to let her, so I decided I wanted my picture taken as well. We thanked Batman and went on our way.
We walked down for about three more blocks when we noticed that someone was following us. We turned around to see that it was BATMAN. We even walked across the street and he Jay walked to keep up with us. I was kind of weirded out at this point. We eventually walked by him and I noticed he gave us all a long stare. I turned around and said,
"Batman, did you lose the Batmobile? Do you need a ride?" The next thing I know Batman's running up to us telling us,
"I'll tell you what I G** D*** need! I want you F^$*#%* people to stop existing! It's people like you who make me hate this city! I would beat your a$$ if it weren't illegal!"
I was scared at this point. Fortunately, Stephen and Tim were with Annie and me. Stephen rushed us off, but Batman continued to follow yelling horrible insults and dropping F bombs. I couldn't figure out what we had done.
We turned into a coffee shop, because we figured that he wouldn't follow us in there. Tim had his back turned to the window and he asked, "Is he still out there?" I looked over his shoulder, and sure enough Batman was still standing there waiting for us. Tim asked me why he would be so mad. I told him I didn't know why, all we had done was taken his picture. Tim finally made the connection. He asked,
"Did you tip him?"
Annie and I looked at each other in shock. It was at that point that I realized that Batman wasn't part of the theatre experience. Instead, he was just some beggar trying to make money. We then explained to the lady at the coffee shop that Batman was following us. Annie handed her two dollars and asked her to go give it to him. So she did. But she quickly returned saying that he wasn't going to go away until one of us gave it to him. So, I walked outside.
I handed him the money and he looks at me and goes, "great, great." He then dramatically ripped up the money in front of my face.
"It didn't even come from your G#@ D@%% heart!!!! If I ever see you here again I will kick your A%%!" then he walked away.
I stood in shock for a few minutes, but just as I was about to walk away I saw a homeless man bending over to pick up the remnants of the dollar. It was the scariest, but funniest thing that I think has ever happened before. I wish I could say that I had made this up, but every bit of it was true. So remember, the next time you see Batman realize that
Hero's need help too. Tip your neighborhood Batman!
